Retail & HR systems

When your HR integration gives up, people re-key it by hand.

Manager self-service and leave transactions travel from ServiceNow into PeopleSoft as SOAP messages. When one hits an effective-date collision or a custom rule, it faults. The integration falls back to an emailed ticket, and shared-services coordinators research it and re-key it before payroll closes. We fix the integration so every transaction goes through the ERP’s own doors and comes back with an answer.

How it breaks

The same four steps, every pay period

1. The request goes in

A manager self-service or leave-of-absence action is sent from ServiceNow, through the MID Server, as an inbound SOAP message to PeopleSoft Integration Broker.

2. It hits the ERP’s rules

Effective-date and sequence collisions (EFFDT/EFFSEQ) or custom component rules reject it.

3. It faults

A SOAP fault or validation error comes back. Nothing tells ServiceNow what failed or why.

4. People take over

The fallback emails a ticket. A coordinator researches it across several screens and re-keys it by hand before the payroll cut-off.

What we change

Through the ERP’s doors, in both directions

Check before sending

Each transaction is checked against the effective dates, sequences and component rules PeopleSoft will apply, before the SOAP call is made. Most faults never happen.

Handle the fault, don’t email it

When PeopleSoft still says no, the reason is captured, the message is retried safely (a correlation ID stops it being applied twice), and it waits in an exception queue with its cause.

Close the loop

PeopleSoft’s answer, accepted or rejected with its reason, is written back to the ServiceNow request. The manager and the shared-services team see the same outcome.

Reconcile before payroll closes

A daily comparison of both systems lists every difference with its evidence, so nothing is found after the pay run.

Start with one integration

The 2-week diagnostic for ServiceNow and PeopleSoft

We take one transaction type, for example leave of absence, and hand you:

  • A map of every inbound and outbound service between the two systems
  • The faults from your logs, grouped by cause
  • The rules each transaction has to pass in PeopleSoft
  • A target design for the governed route, and a test plan
